Hello, once again I`m in need of some advice re the tr77.

I rode it recently in the nostalgia trial and it went well but was running really weak.I was advised to fit new crank seals and have done the flywheel side but cant shift the taper shaft on the cush drive. Does anyone have any advice.

The other thing was I have set the timing to open at 3 mil btdc,is this ok?

Anyway apart from the front wheel having a mind of its own everything else seems fine with the bike and hopefully next time I get it out it should be sorted.

Hi you need a special puller to remove the cush drive.

Have a look at the link below to a previous post covering the same issue. It's very unlikely you will get a cushdrive sleeve puller from anywhere in the UK. They are available in the US from Keith Lynas at Ossa Planet, but f you read this post you may be able to form your own means of removing the sleeve. Don't, whatever you do, try and lever it off as it will break, they're brittle. Unless you are really lucky and have one that doesn't sit too tight on the crankshaft. Most are real buggers to remove though.

Didn't manage to find you at the Nostalgia. I caught a glimpse of a green Ossa a couple of sections away on one lap which may have been you but that was all, never saw it again.

From your description I should be able to make something,I had wondered what the groove was for.

I think there was only 3 ossa`s at the trial mine,a gripper and a white mar so it was probably mine you saw.

I had intended selling the ossa when I came back and buying something lighter like a fantic but I enjoyed riding it so decided to keep it til next years trial at least.

Just out of interest can you recommend any shocks as i`ll be changing mine shortly.Mine are girlings and seem a bit soft.

Choice of shocks can be a personal thing but I only use Falcons now. I think he has received enough feedback over the years from good riders to have the damping/spring rates pretty much right for most popular bikes/rider weight combinations. In terms of how well they work together with their cost (steel bodied versions that is) I think they are the best value for money.

Fantic is without doubt a better bike but the Ossa is also more than capable of handling today's classic sections when set up well. And whilst they're not unique, as you say, you certainly don't see that many around whereas there were bloody Fantics everywhere at the Nostalgia - wait for the obvious response from the Fantic boys..... (I do like the 240 actually)

Yes I know what you mean the 240 was the one I was thinking of.I knew were there was one in a barn a few years ago, might be worth a ride out to see what happened to it.

Managed to get the shaft off tonight so should be up and running tomorrow night with any luck that should be it sorted.
