315 - Softening Power Delivery?

Featured Replies

Hi all,

My '99 315r is a little too fiesty for me - is there anything I can do to soften the power delivery a little?

Cheers,

John

Try changing the throttle from a 'fast action' one to a 'slow action' one. Throttles Link

You could also gear it down a little depending on what setup you have at the moment. Try changing the front sprocket for a 9 tooth one if it's still on the standard 10T one.

You could lower the compression by putting in an extra 1 or two base gaskets. It will soften the bottom end and somewhat tend to push the power peak further up the rev range.

Thanks Guys.

I've ordered a slow action throttle, so I'll see if that helps for starters. Hopefully it'll turn up in time for the weekend!

Does anyone know if it's possible to retard the timing a little?

Cheers,

John

Just had the exhaust apart - I couldn't see any washers in there. But I also couldn't see any washers on the parts diagram!?

Alright Dave,

The washer will be a large one that effectively reduces the diameter of the pipe at the point it bolts to the head. Restricted mopeds have similar thing and it's usually a big washer with a big 'ole and fits between head and exhaust.
