Rev50 Rear Sprocket

Hi All

I have posted this once before, however it seems to have dissapeared!!! Can anyone tell me the advantage of changing the rear sprocket on a Rev50 from the current 53 tooth to one with less teeth. The current one is worn and needs replacing and 1st gear is very short. I wondered if changing it would make this gear a bit more useable. Any help or experience gratefully accepted.
