If you think trials bikes are expensive, I pulled up the sale prices on spark plugs for the Cessna today! The Irridium ones are nice! I only need eight of them for a basic 100hp 4 cyl. motor(2 per cyl). Much like a VW Beetle!

$77 x 8=?

Sparkies!

Think I will settle for the standard ones

i guess the diference is that if the plug on your trials bike fails, you stop in the section and take a '5'.

if the plugs in the cessna fail, you end up with one very large dab and a memorial service !!

The bad thing is, in reality, these things fail all the time. Not such a big deal really, that is why you have two per cyl.

Unfortunately, a good old NGK does not fit a standard aircraft motor, although there are a lot of them flying around in converted auto engines and others such as the Rotax motors.

Most all standard aircraft have two entirely separate magneto(yes points) driven ignitions installed , both for efficiency and redundancy. Add, to this day, no one will be convinced that pure electronics is "better", and I still tend to agree.
