Starting / Running Problems

Featured Replies

I've got a 2001 250cc and it starts on the second kick from cold with choke but when it's warm some times it starts first kick other times it can take 20/30 kicks.

also tick over when cold is very low and stalls but when it's warm it ticks over a little high some times OR it'll be low and stalls.

I can't seem to find a pattern to it.

I've changed the plug, I've cleaned the air filter, i use 99ron fuel with a 50:1 mix, as far as i know it's a standard bike.

As you may have guest I'm new to this and don't really want to start take the carb apart unless i really need to.

Any info welcome

Sounds as though you really may need to! Good common maintenance it is! Add, if not done thououghly, can screw you!

Give the bike a good pressure washdown, then remove the carb and break it(lower bowl screw) over a clear plastic jug or bowl just to see what comes out(without contaminating your sample) and you may be surprised.! Not that that is the end of it, it needs to be spotless in and out by the time you are done!
