September 10, 200916 yr Two questions on Betor gas shocks (on a Cota 348). 1. Should the shocks be positioned with the oil reservoir and air valve end up, and springs down, or vice versa. I've seen them both ways at local meets. Installed with the springs down creates minor brake cable interference on the Cota 348, but that appears to be the most frequently seen installation. 2. What is the recommended air pressure on these shocks.
September 11, 200916 yr I've got the reservoir at the top on my TL and the instructions from TY Trials said to leave the little valve well alone and not the mess with the gas in the shocks. Edited September 11, 200916 yr by BigMike1961
September 11, 200916 yr Author Thanks Big Mike, I'm leaving the reservoir at the top. I hadn't planned on messing with the air pressure, but one shock measures 70 psi and the other 25 psi.
September 12, 200916 yr The "air" is meant to be nitrogen and I have found that 70-80 psi works fine. 25 psi is probably a little low for the seals to work properly.
September 12, 200916 yr That doesn't seem right, would pay to find out the correct pressure & get a shop that does shock rebuilds to add gas to the lower pressure 1
