September 26, 200916 yr hi might seem like a daft question but what does it mean when the end of the spark plug is black and oily....i now surten states of the plug can mean different things just can not remember what.any info would be greatfull thanks.

It could mean that the jetting is too rich, the air cleaner is dirty, too much premix oil was accidently added to the fuel, the exhaust pipe has too much carbon in it, the mufflers somehow got clogged, the ignition system has low output, the carb float level is off or the float valve is not sealing well, things like that. September 26, 200916 yr Author i have just had the middle box welded up while it was split could this have cause it to blacken.
September 26, 200916 yr Gday, its unlikely thats the problem. Start with your air cleaner and go from there as Jon said above. Check carb related things first (after the air cleaner) and of course make sure you have the correct plug for your bike. Fresh fuel too. Cheers, Stork

September 27, 200916 yr ...or you could be just riding slowly round your practice area and its just a bit rich from riding style. Does it look like this after a good blast up the road?
