Montesa Honda has just released the Honda reorganization plan involving the cessation of production of motorcycles in the Barcelona plant and the dismissal of some 180 employees. Although the official team competition Montesa continue its activity, it is unclear what will happen to the production of the Cota 4RT, held at the plant in Santa Perpetua de Mogoda.

The official statement of Montesa Honda SA, is as follows:

"Reorganization - Montesa Honda SA Barcelona, 16 October 2009. As a result of the global economic crisis and declining sales, Honda Motor has arisen to undertake a reorganization of its motorcycle business in Europe. The reorganization is, inter alia, optimize its structure by concentrating production of factory-finished motorcycles that Honda has in Italy. Montesa Honda's plant in Santa Perpetua operations will specialize in plastic injection and painting. Montesa Honda also continue with the activities of Trial, with Montesa brand. This reorganization will result in the decline in the company of some 180 employees from a total of 340, mainly in the areas of production, but also management and business.

The company opens a period of negotiation with the works council to reach agreement on the reorganization announced.
