tonypcota247
I have a 1975 Cota 247 model 21M Serial # 15746 . When I try to kickstart the engine if I enguage the kickstart and bump the engine to TDC and push the start lever down GENTLY the engine turns over and starts fine. However, If I push down on the kickstart lever with a little more force, the kickstarter seems to slip as if the clutch lever is pulled in and the engine does not turn over. It seems as if the clutch is not adjusted properly. I have disconnected the clutch lever and the problem does not change. Also, Is there an electronic ignition conversion for this bike? Are there any Trials Central Stickers?? Any suggestions would be appreciated. thank you! Tony M. tonypcota247
Problem solved thanks to John Haberbosch @ Rocky Mtn Montesa, Oregon, USA. It seems that some of the new style oils are too slippery for the 247 Cota Clutch and it slips. I installed 10w30 motor oil non synthetic and the kickstart works great! tony p
