November 16, 200916 yr Hi, need advice on replacement carb for M-80 sherpa. Would an amal Mk2 be suitable and any ideas on jetting, also can you get an adaptor for flange as Mk2 is just a circular fitting? Cheers, Myson Edited November 17, 200916 yr by myson
November 17, 200916 yr Author Hi I have changed this post as I have located a Mk2 26mm carb, will it fit M 80? Cheers
November 17, 200916 yr Hi - If your going to replace the carb on your m80 I would recommend replacing it with a new carb. Those Amals wear the slide out pretty quick and unless you are lucky a 2nd hand carb will probably never tune properly for slow running. Also the choice as far as I am concerned is for either a concentric Mk 1 625 amal fitted with a 3.5 bronze slide if you wish to remain authentic or a ready jetted Mikuni from Bultaco Uk which will give a better performance. The Mk 2 has no advantages that I have experienced.
November 17, 200916 yr Author Thanks for reply, I cant find a 625 but the 626 should be ok I think, is
November 17, 200916 yr Sorry myson, I made a mistake in my original post. I meant a 627 carb. Some were originally supplied with a 625 but most have been upgraded and as you found out, the 625 is unavailable.
