Got some new boots yesterday after months of riding around in shot boots, as they weren't cheap I'm obviously trying to prolong the life of them by as much as possible. Few questions for you!

Best way to clean them? Fine brush and hosepipe alright? I guess I shouldnt use chemicals on them?

Best way to dry insides without drying out the outer material?

Aftercare - Dubbing all over, working as much into the stitching whilst still moist, yeah? Maybe best to do this before drying, then go over quickly after again?

Donts;

Guessing not to put them on or near the boiler or wood burner to dry?

No chemicals?

Dont leave mud on there when possible, our mud is peaty acidic crap

Do's;

Please add/remove from both lists, and give me much advice as possible please.

Boots are the White Gaerne Balance Classics, like the oiled leather but made from Lorica instead.

Everything you've said sounds fine. Lorica is less prone to cracking when dry compared to leather so they're actually a little easier to look after and seem to take a little more neglect before failing.

Now ya got it, taught me a thing or two ta boot.

Aye, had same boots for year now, and look after just as you say. Only thing if you get a good soaking while out I would fill with newspapper after cleaning to dry inside out.

When you have finished all of that, leave them on their sides like when they arrived in the box, otherwise they sag forward from the ankle area.

No worries there then, keep feeling like we'll never see the end of this damn snow!

I wash mine with a hose and then I polish them with the Plutoline Wax. Then I keep them in the box supplied.

They always look brand new!

Fantastic Boots so comfy

Got a pair of the Gaernes for xmas, in red!! Went out on monday and i must say i am impressed with them. oh so comfy. I will have to get out a bit more during the winter to see how the hold up but, so far i like them alot!

Wash and clean them with water and then put normal leathergrease on the complete boot.They will least for ages and the grease will keep the leather soft.

I have Sidi trial boots, Bought them in 2005 and only use the jet wash to clean them.

Keep them in the house and i dont use no products on them or brushes

Still look like new now!
