Silencer Re-packing

Get new packing (from your dealer)

remove silencer head caps, I think you will need drill to remove those rivets,

then slide caps away,

take all that old packing out and clean everything,

check also the "drilled tube inside" for good condition (ie the holes must be open and free from any dirt and carbon).

Put in the new packing and use "pop-rivets" to seal caps.

The best way to clean the core is to burn of all the carbon with a torch it turns to ash and then use a wire brush .

I just did this to a muffler i got of ebay it was `so bad you could tell it had the little hole in it.

Those Beta 80's are bloody loud and annoying anyway, i don't think i've ever heard a quiet one, don't be surprised if you don't hear much difference.

Using a torch is a very bad idea if your silencer core is aluminuim, as its very very easy to end up melting it!

Most are made of steel.

I repack my sons rev 80 about every six to seven weeks. This seems to keep it quiet and running nice. I also put some silicone sealer around the end caps when i reasemble the silencer this helps keeps water out.

always good to re-seal the front pipe too

cant remember what the 80 sounds like but our 50 sounds hellish loud when revved but when idling down a hill or something sounds like its cut out.
