Evo Help ...

Featured Replies

Hi All, just got an 09 Beta 250cc Evo and need a bit of info please?

Is it best to use Normal or Super unleaded? (I think previous owner used normal)

Is Castrol TTS the best oil to premix with?

What spark plug is best for North West England running?

Should I fit an after market air filter or leave the factory one in?

Bike revs too high when on choke, but OK on tick-over?

Can I adjust this, or should I just pull the choke lever up less than normal (full)?

What way should the mapping switch be? Not sure what switching actually does?

Thanks in advance.

Definately super.Once its up and running you shouldn't need choke. That oil sounds good.Check with Beta UK about plug(lampkins).I would have a few spare filters to hand anyway.Get a good one, aftermarket ones generally seem better than originals.Have fun

How are you finding the Evo?Did you try a 4T Evo?Or consider one?

Hi, I had a go on a new rev4 when they came out and didnt like it, it vibrated like hell ??

I just sold an 08 Montesa 4rt to go back to 2 stroke and the evo was the best I tried (for me) on test days.

When my evo is started on choke it revs too high, I know its only for a minute, but it needs altering (but not sure how to do it )

Not rode my evo yet, due to this snow, cant wait for better weather. Just trying to prep it for use, hence questions above ..

Cheers,

Hi yeah run super unleaded with the castrol tts and youll be right, i use 75ml of tts for every five litres of super unleaded.

The bike comes with a br7es ngk plug but Beta uk recommend using a br5es for the colder UK cilmate.

Only use the choke to start the bike up after that flick it off and let it warm up before you ride.

The map button in postion 1 is a softer map which should help with grip etc... map 2 is the full power map.

To be honest i dont bother with it as the powers not crazy anyways so i leave it on map 2 for alll conditions.

Hope this helps

Cheers

here is what ive done to mine in a works for me styley

super unleaded with ipone

leave switch at 1 for grip 2 for steps

air screw out to approx 1.5 turns ( sounds like thats been done on yours. re choke)

needle position 4 on carb

10 tooth on front

sxs white spring on rear ( im 80kgs as i love the beer)

changed to slow action throttle for winter

settled on flywheel weight in for now

suspension with no more than 1/3 travel (loaded) and a bit of rebound to suit

atf in the box

Thanks for the replies ..... anyone else got any info ???

  • 4 months later...

I use normal unleaded and silkolene oil 70cc to 5 litres of petrol and never had a problem. Also I use a NGK BP5ES plug and a after market air filter are alot better than the standered one. hope that helps :rotfl:
