I'd try the easiest things first (exterior modifications), such as a black tube Domino throttle and 10T front sprocket. Try each

change before stepping up to the next to see if it gives the results you want.

The base gaskets will change the port timing, increase the squish clearance and lower the secondary compression.

The spacer will do the same, except for the port timing.

Gearing it down does not soften it, it just makes it go slower so you have more time. The easiest way to soften it is a slow action throttle and a flywheel weight, leave the gearing alone unless its too quick.

There is a Flywheel weight available but expensive

Now i thought the best way was to fit one or possibly two reed block spacers and also fit the longer front pipe to the exhaust...!!!!

Or just buy a 200cc gasgas in the first place,,, if more clubman riders did this they would see vast improvements in their results :-)

I love it when medioka riders go out and buy a 280 gasgas and then spend the rest of their time trying to keep hold of it through a section, and

the rest of their money trying to calm it down...!! Am i right..?

don't know about the reed block spacers etc, (i have a head spacer on my 250) but agree you are probably correct in your "overbiked" analysis, i converted a 07 125 pro to 200 (160? actual cc) last week for my daughter ( 2nd time i've done it), she was a bit tired after her training day at bracken so i rode it on sunday and it had plenty of power for my limited skills, although i still think it's a bit sharp, perhaps needs a slow throttle on it, having said all that i borrowed a mates 290 evo a few weeks ago when my gasser refused to run when i got there and really liked that as well, the old addage must be true "biggest is best"
