2006 Sy250 Oversize Piston

Featured Replies

hi people had my scorpa sy250 for a couple of years now and have noticed a rattle from the topend on tick over so pulled the top end off to inspect and there is wear to the bore and piston (still on standard bore) so the noise was piston slap, ive got to get the barrel rebored and re nikasiled but cant find anywere that does a oversize piston? can anyone recomend a place that i could get one from in england? cheers Joe

Joe

If you are going to get the bore relined then get them to match it to your piston size.

If you are going to buy a new piston, or reuse the old one, send that piston with the barrel and they will match both. No need to buy an oversized pot.

Just make sure you give the reliners the clearances you want for piston/bore tolerance.

These can be found in the Yamaha engine manual (download at www.thehellteam.com)

remember this is a yamaha engine. ever since the first ty250 came out they have produced engines that are considerably noise when it comes to piston slap. even a brand new one out of the shop would be noisey after five mins use.
