1999 Cota 315r problem

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I've had a '99 Cota 315r for a few years now and it's served me well, but recently I've been having trouble running it. It starts up (with choke on) fairly easily, and warms up like normal on choke, but when I take it off choke it idles for about 2 minutes, then just cuts out. I can keep it running by constantly revving it, but when I go back to idle it stalls.

I've tried setting the idle higher (it's about as high as it can realistically be at the moment) and no change. I've cleaned out the carb recently, and changed the spark plugs.

If anyone has any advice, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks

Chez.

I've cleaned out the carb recently.

When you say you've cleaned it have you taken out the 2nd pilot jet down the hole that the obvious pilot jet is screwed into? There's another one down that hole that has got some tiny holes in it that block really easily - One of the little joys of the PHBH carb.

make sure the breather and hose for the main jet circut is clear, (the little filter that is connected to the breather hose on the carburetor)try disconnecting it and see what happens
