Engine replacement

Featured Replies

I currently have, what i think is a Gas Gas JT16. It has had a lot of use and therefor is going to need allot of work done on it. However, i currently have the opportunity to purchase a Gas Gas JTX200 in near mint condition... except it has no engine. So would my JT16 engine fit straight in to a much later frame? Also anything you can tell me about my JT16 itself would be greatly appreciated as i can find very little info on it.

Matt,

The "JT" is a 1994 model and the "JTX" is the 1997 model, so there is only a couple of years between them. I havent heard of a 94-97 swap, but I would imagine there is a good possibility the mounts are the same. I doubt the guy will sell the frame fast, why not take the JT engine out and see if it fits in the JTX frame before you buy it?
