March 22, 200521 yr hi I'm thinking about getting a bike for my daughter, son, and possibly self (but not admitting that of course). Daughter is 17 and just started road racing, hardly ever been on a bike but doing really well (2 knee slider scrapes, 2 offs and a wheelie), could do with more time on 2 wheels. Son is 14 and interested in trials. Me mountain biker. Not much money left (obviously!) and don't know where to take trails bike near Sheff. Any advice or other comments gratefully received. ........oh I have heard of Doncaster quarry, does it exist?
March 22, 200521 yr I've not found anywhere "near" Sheffield, but the nearest is Bracken Rocks near Matlock-
March 23, 200521 yr you are in a good part of the country for starting trialling as there are several clubs within 30-60 minutes drive away that hold trials with route suitable for beginners. "Manchester 17" hold a series of "dead easy" trials with two routes, an absolute beginners route and slight harder (but still relatively easy) route. Their dead easy series starts again on Sunday 3rd April at Victory Quarry near the outskirts of Buxton. They are a firendly bunch and there are always plenty of new riders there.
