I am hoping to once again receive some valuable insight to a problem I am having. A friend of mines' '03 rev-3 is dieing on him. If the bike is ridden non-stop for over an hour or so it will just die. No spark. Let sit for maybe a half hour or so..... it will start. This is a sporadic problem, not consistent. But continues to happen.

Any thoughts?

Usually when a bike sparks until it gets hot, it's the coil.

There have been some Beta electrical quirks discussed here.

Try a search, maybe.

I had the exact same symptoms in the early 80's with my 123 Montesa. fought it for a long time. We sold the bike in frustration & disgust, the guy put a coil on it, never had a problem AFIAK.

CDI could get hot and do this nowdays I am betting....
