315R Crank seals - which way around?

Hi, i've just stripped down a 315 to change the crank seals and they were fitted in different directions?

The left hand side (stator) was fitted facing outward ie the numbers on the outside, the other was fitted facing inside (numbers towards the piston)..

I've checked the book and according to the pics the clutch side was correct?, I just cant work out by the diagrams how the other side should go?

Any ideas?
