Montesa Fura

Featured Replies

Hello all,

I wonder if anyone here has any experience or knowledge of the Montesa Fura 49cc?

I have one in bits and want to start to rebuild it.

It has a 49CC JLO engine with what appears to be a cable operated 3 speed gearbox.

There is no kick start it appears to require two bicycle type pedals like a moped.

Those pedals are missing.

I wonder these bikes were ever sold in Britain?

I can see they were sold with lighting kit in Spain but this one does not appear to have ever had lights as there are no switches and only two wires coming out of the engine.

Any help welcome.

Alex

apparanty pretty rare, only made 2100 of them in 1970, not sure this is what you have, no pedals, maybe there was more than one fura, what I found has a 57m frame prefix

Thats the bike.

I have been search for stuff in internet. Spanish Moped forums are supplying a lot of info. Some one has emailed me the parts list.

You are right 57M is the frame number.

The pedals thing is the next to look into, all the period photos show only one pedal but the engine and parts list show the shaft machined to fit a second pedal.

I hope to have this one built before christmas and will let you all know how it goes.
