Why do gasgas seem to age prematurly ie. rusty spokes/bolts/general wear and tare?

Its not just gasgas ive noticed sherco are equaly poor build quality too!,montesa and scorpa are very good in comparison, is the reduced weight really worth it?

I think it is because the Gas Gas owners want to ride their bikes as much as possible so they see much more use - while the other brands stay in the garage waiting for their next ride ! Probably the same with the Sherco's :rotfl:

its ok to talk about the quality of the bolts and tell yourself the Scorpa and 4RT are the best made but they are not the best to ride. This is probably why the 4rt wasnt produced in 2010 (Mont had enough 2009 models left) and Scorpa went bust

All down to maintenence IMO.

My Gasser is nearly 5 years old and has no rusty spokes, nipples, bolts etc etc.

10 extra minutes after cleaning (literally 10 minutes max) some blue paper/old tea towel, some WD40, allen keys and spanners and everything is ship shape and perfect.

So in answer and IMO - yes, 10 minutes extra for the reduced weight is 100% worth it.
