2011 Evo

Featured Replies

My son has a Evo 2011 about 6 month old cut out twice yesterday , 1st time got it going again 2nd time no joy. At one point no spark. Cleaned carb , stator , New plug but only getting a weak spark and won't fire up.

Any idea's surely can't be a Stator on a 6 month old bike.

Have you removed the kill switch. If it is the original kill switch you should get a new one (yam type).

Would that not give no spark rather than a weak spark ? I had thought of that yesterday but never got around to by passing it.

It can give a week spark if it has a high resistance fault to earth when it is not depressed.

Cheers for that, will give that ago.

kill switches give trouble on the evos. better with an after market yam type.

To rule it out is it just a matter of unplugging it.

Yes, If you unplug it it should run, if not the kill switch is probably ok,you need to check for cables shorting possibly on frame ect

Phoned Beta UK today after unplugging kill switch didn't work, they said it sounded like the stator, a free one is in the post along with an aftermarket kill switch.

They said to try the Stator but if it isn't that give them a phone back. Quite amazed at how helpful they are and it was them who mentioned Stator and replacing under warranty .
