Rev 4t timing

Featured Replies

Anybody have any idea how to alter the timing on a 2008 rev 4t or is it best to leave it to the experts cheers Neil

You can't.

Well i think anyway. (covered my ass there)

flywheel is keyed to shaft, pickup doesn't move and neither does stator.

only thing you could do would be to change the CDI unit. THIS kit has a different CDI.

Next question then how much is cdi unit

What are you trying to achieve by adjusting the timing?

is it running rough or do you want to calm the bike down abit?

Gday, that is a fuel mixture issue, it's running too rich. Your Carb needs adjustment - I think there are a few threads on this already so have look through and you should find the cure.

Carb has all standard jets and mixture screw is four turns as per Lampkins and they now reckon it's the cdi unit but they no longer have a mechanic

Will try it in the garage with the lights off tomorrow evening

personally i'd remove the carb, thoroughly clean it and all and check the adjustment/needle.

my experiance from the sealed cdi unit is the either work or dont.

have you check the pins on the cdi unit plug.

i know it's a rev 4t but on the evo they are more vunerable to water ingress and corrosion and that can make it run rough.

The CDI will work or stop - it can't do in between.

Check that the choke plunger is seating properly and the float Valve is working properly
