Hi folks. I have recently had the fork sanctions on my 240 rechromed and fitted new seals and springs. They are now very sticky. Would anyone have suggestions how to resolve the problem

Tight seals? Try another pair.

Chrome too thick? Difficult.

Try loosening your axle nut and the pinch bolts on the axle along with the triple clamp pinch bolts and cycle the forks gently to line every thing up . And make sure your spacers are in correctly on the axle , the hub should fit with minimal clearance to the forks so you don't bind everything up when you tighten the axle.

When you do this, don't forget to loosen the fender/fork brace as well.

I knew I forgot something ....

Have you got 2 seals per side ? because I have found the action is far better with 1 only and a spacer specially made up to take up the space of the missing seal.

It may also be the finish on the rechrome not being completely smooth yet (requires running-in of the surfaces by riding the bike).

Thanks to all for advice. Although everything appeared to be aligned, I loosened all the pinch bolts and adjusted as suggested. All seems a lot better now. I think most of the problem lay with the mudguard bracket/fork brace and the sequence that the various clamps etc were tightened. My forks only have one seal per leg. I am led to believe that later models had this alteration as standard but nor sure
