June 18, 201214 yr Just got a Cota 349 so I'm new here. I would like to find out what year my 349 was made? 51m17116. It is registered as a 1976 but they didn't start until 1979. It appears as an early one as it has a red tank with a tube guage on the right side. Has no spark so trouble shooting is in order. thanks for any info. Hackrider
June 18, 201214 yr Hi and welcome It looks as if it is from 1980 http://www.montesaweb.com/secciones/detalles.aspx?id=93 For 1981 the 349 colour scheme changed to white tank and red frame. You might be able to get an accurate date from Sandifords (http://www.jimsandiford.co.uk/) who were one of the main importers and who can supply a dating certificate if it was one that they brought in. June 21, 201214 yr Author Sandiford declined to date the 349 because they only research bikes they imported. Mine was imported to the USA so more searching to do. Hack
June 23, 201214 yr Try Jared Bates at southwestmontesa.com. He should be able to tell you the year of the bike by the engine number
