June 29, 201214 yr Took the tank off my bike to pull the radiator overflow hose off so I could go buy a longer one while in town today. Left tank on a chair with the petcock closed thinking, that will be safe... WRONG! I got home and 1/2 gallon of fuel leaked onto the shop floor from the vent hose... DOH! I'm lucky that there was nothing turned on in the shop to ignite it. Hanging head in shame

In the winter when the vapors lay low near the ground and accumulate this could be more of an issue!
June 30, 201214 yr There's probably a lot of people on her that have made that mistake. I certainly have, but I only did it the once! A lesson learnt.
June 30, 201214 yr I did that in my mothers garage, how we laughed. Well we laughed years later once she had forgiven me as the garage is connected to the house and the fumes had permeated her kitchen.
