Hi All,

Just bought myself a TXT 250 Pro 05 and have now had a couple of run outs on it and had a ball. Anyway I now want to change the oil and keep on top of that but am unsure what the best type of oil to use is. I've read loads and loads of threads on here as well as trawling the internet about what oil to use and it's all great stuff but I'm really confused about what's best.

Can anyone offer me a couple of good / safe options for what's best for me to use and then I can try them both and see which works better with my bike?

Cheers in advance - Coops

Coops, do you not know the previous owner? if you like what you got, you need to finout what he was using.

I run yamalube, 5w/30 synthetic engine oil, love it. Better riders like some, like automatic transmission fluid, as that makes the clutch grab harder/quicker. I like the 5/30 becuase I feel like i have a bigger sweetspot on where and how much I slip the clutch compared to what ATF does. you will need to try things, see what you like probably.

Thanks for the quick responses guys... very helpful.

I had bought some Dexron III ATF but then read about swelling clutch plates so wasn't sure if I should use it and had also read about not using synthetic oils either.

Managed to get in touch with the guy who had it previously and he used Silkoline Light Oil in it ... seemed fine but wasn't sure if that would be ok long term or if there was anything that I should be wary of using that. Looks like it's a case of trying and seeing .. but being careful not to use someting that will cause any damage. Guess I'm just a bit cautious ... apart from when I'm on the bike !
