Chain Length

Featured Replies

Hi,

I put a new chain on my rev3 250 06 today. I replaced the front sprocket to and went from a 10t to a 11t (partly as an experiment on gearing and partly as that was what was in stock!) I had 100 links in the chain before with the 10t so went for 102 with the 11t.

My Problem

With the chain fully tightened i.e wheel all the way out the chain seems to long, but with the wheel all the way in it looks like if i was to take another link out it would be too short.!! Scared to try it.

Anyone else had this? Tempted just to get a 10t sprocket again.

Cheers

Jim

You can buy a link &1/2 ( 3 rollers together)

I bought a 102 link chain for my evo & had to take a full link out. it looked as though it was going to be tight but ended up perfect with two clicks on the snails.

I always rode the beta in second. If you always rode in first I would get the half link and try it out. Otherwise go back to 10 t.

Thanks, didn't know such a thing existed!

I Usually ride in 2nd, but on an open trail it feels like im screeming 3rd so I change to 4th but 4th is too long so back to 3rd and so on. Really wanted to make 3rd longer really, didn't think it would have much effect on 2nd?

Am I way off here or on the rite track
