hi all just rebilding the bottom and top end off my 199A the bottom end gasket is it wise to put alittel smear of grease on both sides or should i put it on just as it is?

You could write a book on this subject.

Grease holds the gasket in place whilst you assemble things.

The surfaces must be clean and perfectly flat.
