December 7, 201213 yr just picked up my Evo 4T today, what oil works best. stays cool, keeps the top end safe, and keeps the clutch smooth? thanks.
December 7, 201213 yr Jeez upChuck, what have you done now! might try to PM Rlracer on here(Ron), or I guess I could call Ray P and ask if you don't have any luck with recco's on here, let me know!
December 7, 201213 yr I experimented with lots of different oils... any good 10w40 works best. I would try Mobil1 full synthetic 10w40 but make sure its the motorcycle specific oil that is OK for wet clutches
December 7, 201213 yr I prefer water based lubricants. Much easier to clean up afterwards! The mobile 1 really left a bad taste in my mouth!
December 7, 201213 yr Chuck , (lucky guy ...) Contact Jim at http://www.competiti...sandcycles.com/ he is a beta dealer and our clubs pres. (and also the engineering applications manager for Hendrick motorsports... aka really smart guy !!!) He is totally behind the Redline brand of bike oils , I'd see what one of their oils he would recommend for your new toy . Glenn . Edited December 7, 201213 yr by axulsuv
December 7, 201213 yr I have run Motul 300V 15-50 double ester in my 250 4t for almost 2 years now and it has caused no problems and engine runs perfectly, it is fairly expensive, I only change it about every 10-12 sometimes 15 hours of use and it still comes out almost the same colour that it goes in.
December 7, 201213 yr Author you not supposed to drink it lol. ill give the Motul a try and see how she works, im going from a evo 290, to the 300 4T..im sure its a learning curv, im used to 4T power from my TLR, and like it alot..so this bike should work well with my riding style.
December 11, 201213 yr My guess is that you are going to have problems with your clutch with a 15-50, unless you modify your fiber plates. Is it a 2013?
December 12, 201213 yr Been using Repsol 4T racing 10W50, from new (2010) with no problem (UK ambient ).
December 13, 201213 yr My guess is that you are going to have problems with your clutch with a 15-50, unless you modify your fiber plates. Is it a 2013? Nope. Not on the 4T. But the 4T still likes the clutch modification.
