December 23, 201213 yr Hi there I have a 1997 315R with the Paoili Forks .. the manual says Paoli but i presume its the same Italian company... The previous owner has been a bit sloppy with his work and rounded off the RHS fork cap nut to the point where i know its only going to come off with visegrips.... and then be rendered unusable. Its the side with the purple clicker sticking out proud from the cap Does anyone know where i can source a suitable replacement fork cap nut so as i can change my oil...? 51450-NN3-000 is the Honda / Montesa part number I've had a look online in the usual places but its listed as £60 and now deleted / unavailable.... £60 seems pretty steep though even if i could fine one... I know these forks were also fitted to Beta,s Sherco and Scorpa of the same period and beyond into the 0000's but cant locate the part for them either... The fork tube in 38mm... Anyone got any suggestions or other solution to the problem >? ... As long as my forks work im not a huge fiddler in suspension settings but want to be able to change my oil. thanks neil sutherland
December 23, 201213 yr You might just use a pipe wrench with some tape on the jaws. If every thing is loose(triple clamp bolts) It should only take a half turn. After that drop the fork out of the clamps. With it off the bike the nut should come off by hand. Clean it up with a file or what ever you have available. Just re-assemble hand tight. The o-ring will seat enough not too leak. The clamps will keep it tight once on the bike. I always just hand tighten the fork caps. Next time no wrench will be needed!
