After hours spent looking in diferent countrys ebay and google searched the only place I can find 1st oversize 348 pstons is classic trials france at an eye watering £250+.

Is there a more reasonably priced alternative or does the price reflect the fact that that is the only source?

If they are selling them for £250 then as he always seems to just double the price of everything you should be able to source for £125 ish. Then again as you have already found out Montesa bits are all made in another universe not connected to this one. Lack of parts availability is why they are so cheap and very few people ride them cos they struggle to keep them running. Might be a better option to try and see if a piston from something else can be adapted to suit ? Wait till you need gearbox or kickstart shafts then the problems really start. I've spoken to Granby Motors and nothing comes close to the bore size of the 348. I've asked a Two Stroke Forum member in Spain to keep an eye out but I bet I'll end up getting a batch made by Wiseco.

Might be worth trying Dave at In Motion. I've no connection other than being a satisfied customer.

I recently (Nov 2012) purchased two on e-bay from Y&R Segal in Israel. However, I believe he indicated they were all he had. Perhaps he can locate some more.

Inmotion as already mentioned or try Kevin Breedon Racing he supplied me with a 349 piston last year. millers may also be able to help.

And please note most suppliers stock more than is shown on their websites!

I just sent a request to Wiseco for a quote on 24 std and 24 +25 348 pistons. I'll let you know if they can make them up.
