May 23, 200521 yr i have just brought a 4rt, and have been told there is a restrictor in the front exhaust pipe, after taking the front pipe off i couldnt find it, so its prob been taken off already, but there seemed to be no gasket between the exhaust and barrel is this correct? can anyone help?
May 23, 200521 yr The restrictor is a sleeve that is loose fitting inside the exhaust pipe, when its removed the pipe will fit back on with no visable gasket. The removal of ALL the restrictors will have an undisirable effect of making your bike very loud. If its just the front exhaust pipe restrictor which has been removed your bike should not be excessively noisy. Should you be interested, you will find another restrictor between where the front pipe meets the centre box and one on the end cap of the muffler. I recommend you keep the other two in place especially the end cap.
June 21, 200521 yr I took the front restricter out and the only difference I could tell was that it was louder. I relying on Honda to know what it's doing.
