309 Carb Needle Setting?

The info I have for my 309 says to put the needle clip in the second position. Second from where, top or bottom of the needle? Carb is the PHBH26 CS. Anyone know?

    They mean from top.

    You can set it as low as you need to.

    I am a somewhat relaxed rider and in my 305 i use the 1st from top because otherwhise the engine is running to rich and it will oil its sparkplug.

    Also when that is the problem you can use a hotter plug, i use a NGK BP5ES.

    Thanks. It was set at third from top so I moved it to second. At idle on the sidestand (leaned over) it is not as smooth as when vertical. Possibly I need to check the float height.
