June 28, 201313 yr Hello, Does anyone know where I can get a pickup coil for my 240? The wire has burnt on the old one. Thanks Much! Retro
June 28, 201313 yr Bill pye is your man. Get it off to him in a Jiffy bag with a cheque, he'll have it back in a week and it will be spot on Regards
June 29, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the info. I am in the US. Does Bill have an e-mail address? So a pickup with the wire melted off can be repaired? Thanks Much! Retro
June 29, 201313 yr He does but its probably better to phone him. He fixed my 240 pickup coil 6 years ago and it has been perfect ever since. website is http://www.nickandka...o.uk/index.html This was the coil I sent him: Edited June 29, 201313 yr by grib
June 29, 201313 yr Did the wire actually burn off or did the insulation just deteriorate? You can cut off and solder on new wire yourself if that's all it is.
July 9, 201313 yr Author OK, I sliced the wire almost at the pickup & got fire. Now when it fires, it shears the flywheel key(4 times). Anyone have an idea why it is shearing keys? Thanks Much! Retro
July 9, 201313 yr make sure the flywheel and crankend are lapped together correctly , and the keyway is only there to locate the flywheel , the flywheel is secured by the press/interference fit of the crank and flywheel with the proper torque on the nut. if it comes off without a puller something isn't fitting together correctly ... July 9, 201313 yr Handbook with torque settings is here; http://s292.photobucket.com/user/fantictrials/library/fantic240manual/#/user/fantictrials/library/fantic240manual?sort=4&page=1&_suid=13733944618480784788185855814 are the timing marks lined up?
July 16, 201313 yr Author That was it. I was not tightening the flywheel nut enough. I torqued it up & it kicked right off. Thanks to all for the info. Now to ride! Retro
July 17, 201313 yr Axulsuv is spot on, the flywheel is fixed by a good fit on the taper. The key only locates it in the correct position. Glad you got it sorted though
