I need to have a swing arm bolt made. Can someone tell me the grade of bolt that I should use?

Mild steel should be fine (EN1), but you would probably be better with EN8 as the thread would be stronger

It very much depends on the application & spindle diameter.

EN8 is the way to go for a trials bike EN24 if you want to go belt and braces

I measured my Fantic 309 aluminum swing arm bolt that I had to cut out and found a almost perfect bolt on Fastenal's site,just had to trim some threads off,works so good I've almost forgot I did it.May not be uber light aluminum but it fits and was available THE VERY NEXT DAY!
