August 11, 201313 yr ive recently bought a gasgas 280 txt 2000 model and the bike randomly makes a hissing/puffing noise coming from around the electrics/engine area. i cant put my finger on when the bike does it as it can do it 3 times in a minute and then not again for half an hour. I was just wondering if anybody has encountered this problem before and could guide me to what it could possibly be?
August 12, 201313 yr Take off the flywheel cover. Some times it could just be the cover. Run it. If it still does it the mains could be bad or just the main seal. If you grab the flywheel with both hands (not running) you can tug up and down. If you feel movement, the main bearing is bad.
August 12, 201313 yr Does the fan come on after you have been riding? Hissing could be coolant or steam escaping from the radiator cap. Have ypou checked the coolant level?
