Clutch Cover Sight Glass Removal?

Featured Replies

Is there an issue with yours? Or are you just really bored or need time away from the Mrs.?

lol yeah I just had to fit a new clutch cover and they don't come with a sight glass, figured it out in the end. Just pushes out (away from the engine)

WHAT??????

Any engine part of that size/material (case, clutch cover etc) are expensive as heck! and it doesn't come with a sight glass!? That's just aggrevating.

OK rant over.

I know! Wouldn't it be cool if parts came with all seals and fittings already fitted. An £80 cover suddenly costs over £100 when you add seals and all.

when i cracked my cover on my 11 the cover came with two gaskets new sightglass and the kickstart rubber ring that sits in the case where the shaft goes in. and that was £85. i think your cover has cracked because your idle gear and starter gear are chewed up. (makes an anoying rattle).

but if you catch a chewed up bit on the idle gear when starting it it will flex the case which will crack it instantly. change the starter and idle gear if there are any marks! thats what i was told by intabikes in kent

Thats odd, it was a 2011 cover that I bought today, was sealed in a GasGas bag and came with no seals etc :-(

Fixed the bike all up today already :-)

really! that sucks! did you check the gears i mentioned?

Yeah thanks, had to replace the idle gear but the pawl gear was fine luckily :-)

Yup...when I bought a cover it didn't come with the sight glass either.

I didn't care about the glass, but a new seal would have sure helped.

Mine wept and I had to snot it up.
