Rev 4 300 Cold Start ?

Featured Replies

Hi all just bought a 2008 rev 4 300cc love the bike handles great power is smooth think I am going to enjoy this bike. One thing spoiling the enthusiasm for bike is it is a complete Bitch to start from cold ? Is there a knack? When I say bitch I mean took twenty mins plus ? Any advice truly appreciated

Fuel switch in the down position, allow carb to fill with fuel.

I can normally start without the choke but when it's very cold or not been started for a long time I use the choke.

One slow kick and then one normal big puch of the kickstart (not a stabbing kick).

Normally catch the engine with a blip of the throttle.

Return the fuel switch to the up position.

Happy days.

Your pilot jet is too lean. The 4T Beta's come lean from the factory to pass emissions.

Go one full step up on the Mikuni pilot jet.

It is worth trying what billy says.

however, I tried this and it made little difference....

But then raised the needle two notches and it ran WAY better.

They are lean in the mid range to pass emissions - I think the emission test is around 3-5000rpm
