November 16, 201312 yr Hi Quick question, I need to get a half link for my 2011 300 Raga due to changing to 10t on the front, anyone know what make the stock chain is? would prefer to buy same make for the half link also I assume it's a 520. Thanks
November 16, 201312 yr Author You do not need any changes to go to 10t. Unfortunately with it being an old'ish chain with a bit of wear even on snail cam max the chain was too long but a full link removal was just a little too much
November 16, 201312 yr I hope you're not combining a worn chain with a new 10T sprocket? If this is the case the chain will want to "ride" on the top of the sprocket tooth with possible dire consequenses
November 16, 201312 yr Just buy a cheap 520 chain of the same length (as what came with the bike) if the rear sprocket is not obviously worn badly.
November 16, 201312 yr Ten minutes n it will bed in. Ive never had a chain fail n mixed n matched. Unless is totally worn out. Mountain bikers are anal about chains but my mountain bike just keeps going year in year out and ok hands up its a smoother gear chain when i do swap everything but dont buy into buying cheap as thats a clear waste ot time.

How did you know I was a mountainbiker!?
November 17, 201312 yr I would change the chain to an RK one. Lasts a lot longer than the "light" chain Gas Gas specify.
November 17, 201312 yr Author Would anyone be able to answer the original question please, what make is the stock Gas Gas chain and is it a 520? Thanks
November 17, 201312 yr The One on the Gas Gas 300 we had was I think a Regina. It has smaller rollers than most so RK and Renthal links don't fit.

Thanks Have you looked up the chain which is mounted to your bike? Often the manufactory has stamped their logo on the links, second a 520 chain do have dimensions, measure them and compare: 520 = (5/8 x 1/4 x 10,16). roller: 10,16 mm, pitch chain: 15,88 mm = 5/8", chain width inner dimension: 6,35 mm = 1/4"

Most chain manufacturers have the dimensions on their website... Yep, therefore I just mentioned the roller dimension, the pitch and the inner diameter, as these are dimensions are to any 520 identical. The outer Diameter -as you said- could be efiierent, or it could be a complete half link chain, ...
