Looking to replace the Amal Mk1 carb on an early 70s Montesa 123..

Anyone got any suggestions as to a good reliable alternative?

Mikuni - available jetted for the bike from in motion, fitted one to my Montesa mh200. It makes a huge difference, better all round and ultra reliable.

I've put a 26mm Mikuni onto my 247 and runs fine way better than with the old Amal on.

Mine came from John at the Twinshock Shop already jetted - just put it on and it was great.

I've also dealt with in motion and had great service from them too so I would recommend either.

i'd thought about trying to get a second hand one and re jetting it etc - But I don't really think it's worth the hassle unless you're on a really tight budget.
