Gas Gas Txt Pro 280 2002

Featured Replies

Hi can anyone help . I'm a new rider and have bagged myself a gas gas txt pro 280 2002 model. I've done loads to this bike since I got it a month ago. Discs , pads , full service , bearings , chain sprockets and much more. When I'm pottering about on it though it seems a little jerky at low revs in low gears . .ive stripped the carb down and all jets are spot on and clean ans chain seems tight enough. It's almost like this beast just wants to go all the time. Is this normal. Any help much appreciated . Chris

Hi and welcome! Unless you've got misfires and bogging out its normal. The 280 is a monster, I have an 06 300 I find it easier to ride than my mates 04 280

Don't think its misfiring just put anew plug in and it kicks first time every time . . Might sound likea helmet . But what's bogging ?? Thanks

Like it wants to die when you rev it. Are you pottering around in 1st? If so it will be jerky. Try 2nd or 3rd.

I did try that today it was worse .. It's kinda like it just wants to go all time .. Quite hard to control when going slow ..

I slip the clutch a bit but you need to keep the oil fresh. Try putting a slow throttle tube on it. Maybe a smaller rear sprocket too. Good luck.

The pro was geared a little tall. Count the teeth on the counter shaft sprocket. It came with an 11t. A ten will do for most riders.

The 10T will help. They did seem a little high geared and I run an 11/44 combo on mine. What jetting do you have in the carb? There are a lot of other things that may cause the symptoms, like old fuel, tattered reeds or worn rings etc. I also have a 2002 280 and it runs silky smooth.
