The two main bolts that hold on the fender subframe have been good since I bought the bike. I noticed the other day one had worked its way loose, so I began to tighten the bolt only to find that it is stripped. I know that I did not over tighen the bolt to cause it to strip, but could hard hits from jumping off something cause extra stress to break the bolt loose?

Going to pull it apart next week and take a look...not sure if there is a nut welded to the back of the frame or if it is threaded into the frame. If it is the later I may need to helicoil?

Anyone else have these issues?

Unfortunately you will need to helicoil it. check the others when your at it too!

if you have damaged the thread on the bolt nearest the fuel tank(in the main frame) be careful as if you drill to far you could end up with a fuel leak.

I've helicoiled subframe and mudguard ones, much better and shouldn't have a problem again.

Same has happened to our evo and some of the other threads/fixings are also poor - not good design imo. The alloy is too soft for steel bolts. The fixings on our Sherco are much better.

Yes, me too...

Helicoiled them last year and that's better than original...

I think the latest evo's have two bolts there now...

I tapped mine out to the next larger size English thread and it is working fine so far. If you go this way you also need to enlarge the hole in the sub-frame so the bolt passes through it freely. In my case I have the long ride kit installed as well,
