Crank Case Breather Snapped

My chain came off today and started to coil around the front sprocket snapping the little alloy crank case breather off I have the right angled bit, but the part that pushes into the crank case has fell inside the crank case. Any ideas how to get it out other than pray it comes out with dropping the oil. Can I take this side of the crank case off or do I have to start with the clutch side and work my way back.
