January 29, 201412 yr Quick one and maybe a silly question ! Can the 125's be road registered, they don't seem to be any second hand road reg 125 bikes at all for sale. I know these are mainly for youth riders so probably no need to register but im just wondering if you can register them when bought new ? Cheers
January 29, 201412 yr Generally yes You will need a certificate from the dealer who sold it new or the importer, then contact the DVLA. If its a grey import it may need to be inspected at a VOSA centre who will certify it (or not) as meeting legal requirements for UK roads. If you are lucky DVLA may register it on a Q plate without questions other than a receipt / proof of ownership. You then have to get it MOTd.
January 30, 201412 yr Road registering a 125 is the same as any other non registered bike. I would avoid a "Q" plate as insurance is a pig to get and will cost a lot more than than a age related plate..... You will also need to prove to the DVLA that import duty / tax has already been paid.
January 30, 201412 yr Yes, there is no difference in registering a 125 compared to any other capacity. There are a few ridden in, for example, S3 Nationals but they are as you say generally ridden by Youths so not road registered.
