Hi All, I just purchased a Beta Sincro but because it is a new model, insurance companies haven't listed it yet. The bike is road registered and DVLA were happy to take my road tax payment immediately even though I can't use it on the road. Any thoughts please? Naturally I am particularly anxious to have the bike insured against theft if nothing else.

I've stripped the carb & cleaned everything & put it back together but it needs fettling. It doesn't want to play ball & i want to go riding. Cheers Si

Hi folks I am part way through a process of registering a Yamaha TY175, I've sent in the V62 with fees, and some follow up photos and bike description after an email from DVLA. Four months later.....I've received a V55/5 form from DVLA that is for first tax and vehicle reg (Im guessing they could not find any original number) This form assumes you are a likely a dealer and that you have a certificate of conformity, so Im wondering if anyone out there has gone through this process and obtained a cert of conf? Did they even produce such docs in 1980? I heard I could write to yamaha UK and get information but is it bike specifi or just general for all TY 175…

I just started the process of registering my old TXT. It was a bit of a faff getting help from Gas Gas in Austria and a lot of time was wasted so thought I'd put what I learned on here to help others. It transpires the older Gas Gas machines were imported by John Shirt Motorcycles in Buxton. https://johnshirtmotorcycles.com/ A quick call to them and I was met with the friendliest pair of ladies I've ever spoken to. She gave me all the history they have of my two bikes and for the princely sum of £50, she is happily providing the dating certificate and carrying out all the HMRC NOVA work on my behalf. It's just a case of MOT, wait for the paperwork from John Shirt then sen…

Hi, Can anyone tell me what I need to be able to (briefly) ride my new Montesa 4RT on the road. It is in the process of being road registered (7 weeks and still no sign of a V5!!!) When I last done this a long ago you needed a fork leg speedo, rear reflector and bulb horn. There will be occasions where it would be convenient to be able to ride it rather than push it.

I have been asked if I would stand for the committee on my club (happy to). One of the debates about the new ACU website was about the event insurance - so checking people are ACU members with a valid licence. With no plastic card this is difficult for the organisers on the day. One of the current committee has suggested looking at AMCA membership. I would like to know what is the general view about the ACU insurance? Do people think they are insured whilst riding a trial and what do they think they are covered for? I have been looking at this topic and was surprised by my findings. My assumptions were incorrect. I would welcome feedback on your views. Do…

I need a dating certificate in order to register my OSSA MAR. I'm aware of the DVLA procedure which I have been through before - at some point I will need to produce a document to verify the production date. Given that OSSA don't exist I'm at a loss where to go for the certificate. Has anyone on the forum had any useful recent experience ? Thanks.

I'm restoring a Bultaco Sherpa 198A which is already road registered with V5 now in my name and being over 40 years old eligible for historic status. However, to apply for historic status the bike has to be insured. When I enquired whether Bikesure my current bike insurance / broker company would add the Sherpa to my multi-bike policy, they said yes as long as the bike had a speedo fitted and asked for me to just send them photographic proof. Seems a bit strange as I didn't think this was a requirement for an MoT etc. but just wondered if anyone else had this experience? And as Bultaco speedo's and drives seem rare and expensive, if a simple wireless cycle speedo wo…

Just picked up a 1976 Cota 250. It has the lighting kit and V5 and is currently on SORN. Its all original and needs a going over and general tidy up. Is there a recommended insurance company for these bikes please ? I am 58 years young and would prefer this on a separate policy to my other bikes. Thanks in advance.

Does anyone know the procedure for registering a never-registered bike? I've got a Bultaco Sherpa T M92 I want to get a V5C for. The DVLA website tells me to " get form V765 endorsed by a vehicle owners club" - can't find a Bultaco owners club! Apparently getting a V5C was easy til recently...

Hi all, I'm looking to register my TY. I've contacted Yamaha, they cannot provide any details as the factory records no longer exist. They have suggested contacting an owners club to obtain age verification? I have emailed DVLA with details downloaded from web sites, to confirm age ranges, these are not acceptable to them as proof of age Does anyone have any ideas how I can get proof of age?
