Ok im a little harsh with the first response,the second is a thing called humour.

We've all been there, I wold recommend that you buy some tools such as a socket set, sooner rather than later and just get into things, nothing more satisfying than fixing a problem yourself!

like i said earlier on, i am doing things as they come along, thats the reason i am asking questions, the first thing i did was to buy a socket set and a good set of allan keys but i didn't realise that the sockets didn't go as big as the nut on the back wheel, now i know that i will have to take the wheel off i will buy a socket or spanner to fit, i have been a carpenter for about 30 years and so i now the importance of good quality tools but at the moment things are really tight and i can't just go out and buy everything i will need so i have to buy tools as i need them.

I'll second that Cope, I have a garage full of Snap Off gear and still used to go straight for the trusty old adjustable. I'm now cured of this as I have brought a nice anodised blue nut, the csp one the same size as the plug spanner, so I now put tape round the nut so I don't mark it and use a good 6 sided socket.

Now I have to get in the habbit of using a plug spanner for the plug now instead of a pair of grips!!

Back to the issue of people with smart a r s e d answers, Just ignore them, toetoe. I must admit sometimes I can't help taking the mick a bit but it's only a bit of funny banter and I always follow it up with some usefull input when I can.
