New To Me Bike

Featured Replies

Well as some of you would have seen I have been looking for a bike!

Stated out looking for a beamish or TL and then started looking for a Triumph Tiger cub.

Was told to look at a Fantic or Ty and the search continued.

Anyway I went to a small trial at the weekend and realised that the majority were on fairly late bikes and most had older bikes but thought the newer bikes were easier to ride and more forgiving.

So I am now the proud owner of a 1996 Beta Techno 250, Good nick, well looked after and ready to ride.

Also got all the bits I need, Boots , Hat, paddock stand, spare levers, Oil, spare plug.

Tyres are near new.

So as far as I know I now have all I need to go and enjoy.

What do I need to know about these machines ?

Fatty

always clean and re oil the air filter every use if you can change the gear oil regular i use atf and change it every third ride run it 80 to 1 with good quality 2 stroke oil

check and re grease linkage bearings and head stock bearings

expect the clutch to stick once in a while so aim bike away from everything when you put it in gear
