July 6, 201412 yr I have a hole in my muffler, the bracket where it attaches on the bottom snapped off and left a hole. Now it's dripping and causing a mess. Any tips on what to use to patch the hole? JB Weld possibly?
July 7, 201412 yr Find a local welding shop to fix it properly. I called my local welding supply to get a recommendation for someone local to do aluminum, and the guy charged me $15 bucks!
July 7, 201412 yr Its good weldable, only most of the time its a quite dirty job because of all the oil etc.
July 8, 201412 yr If it is dripping a lot of gunk from the hole, it is probably time to open up the silencer, clean it out and repack. I would suggest to open and clean out the silencer,, then take it to a good welder to weld a cover over the hole and reattach the mounting bracket (Take the bike and silencer to get the bracket properly located). Then repack and you are good to go.
July 8, 201412 yr Yeah, I would definatly repack, or you might put the muffler on fire while welding, and probablu it needs repacking anyway.

A buddy of mine who races circle track turned me onto these aluminum exploding rivets which are great as well. Ebay has em with a large head in several colors. i am totally converted now. --Biff
